Looking the other way

Sometimes we're more interested in the future than in what's happening in front of us. Even if what's in front of us is a Formula 3 race car. I took this shot quite a while ago in Barcelona, where I spent a weekend - the main race of the weekend was a DTM race, and the European Formula 3 series is a partnership series of the DTM. 

The Chase

An Audi being chased by what I think is another Audi, last September at the Circuit deCatalunya near Barcelona. Like before, I used a technique known as panning where you follow a moving object with the camera. If you manage to follow it well, the object should be sharp while the background is blurred (you also need to use a relatively slow shutter speed, in the case of racing cars, 1/100 of a second is more than slow enough).

The pantheon roof racer

A helium balloon was perfectly fitted beneath the roof of the pantheon of Rome. The thing was far away, almost at the top of the dome, so it was barely seen and the light was poor. I had to use an ISO sensitivity of 1600 at only 1/15 of a second and the aperture wide open on my 250 mm telefoto lens. Stretching my neck to the top, the picture isn't as sharp as it could be. But still, I am able to present to you: the pantheon roof racer.

Hold the line

Another photo from the DTM race at the Circuit de Catalunya - very simple, like the one before. This was before Saturday's qualifying, when they let fans stroll down the pit lane, past open garages, where mechanics are busy making adjustments to the Mercedes and Audis.

Number 22
