Turtle noir

A red-eared slider turtle, which is an invasive species originally from the Mississippi river and the Gulf of Mexico but has spread all over the world. This one is very inquisitive and loves eating snails.

Moose

This moose (or eurasian elk as it's known in Europe) was relaxing in the warm sun of the Bavarian forest. This is the same location I photographed this wolf and this owl. We managed to get very close, just a few meters away (but on the other side of a fence).

Wolf

A wolf in the Bavarian forest national park. The park has a very interesting zoo - it has animals which are native to the region, such as wolves, European bison, owls, etc. The enclosures are huge and often one doesn't even see some of the more secretive animals - thankfully, the wolves were just being fed, which made it that much easier to take this photo. 

Swan

This beautiful swan was relaxing in Zurich, where I recently spent a couple of hours during a stop-over on my way to Shanghai (yes, photos from there are on their way). This is in the center of the city, where the Limmat river runs from Lake Zurich. The light was pretty nice, since it was still quite early in the morning and the autumn sun hadn't risen too high yet. I had a (borrowed) telephoto lens which allowed me to take this tight shot from quite far away - I think this gives the photo a more intimate feel.

Hi there

For those complaining I haven't posted for a while. A little monkey, chilling and relaxing on abandoned temple somewhere in east Bali. I adore those creatures. This guy has a "Beckam" haircut.

Vipera berus

I went trad climbing today to the little-known Slovenian mountain called Kogel, and during the walk to the wall we ran into this fellow, the common European Adder (locally known as a Gad). I've seen snakes before in the wild, even poisonous ones, but this one is the biggest so far (as well as the closest). We estimate that it was around 60 cm long, though his hiss was surprisingly loud (you could hear it clearly from about 10 meters away).

A creature in slovenian sea

It's true, we don't have a lot of sea in Slowenia. But the Jellyfish can still be a monster. Harmless though.

Little green frog

This little frog almost became domesticated in the space of a minute or so. He was crawling over our hands and beer cans and generally being very relaxed and cool.

Missing his mommy

Ain't that cute, but it's dirty. Me and Nina found this little doggy in Trindad (Cuba). He was so lonely, so young he didn't even see things clearly and lost his mom. We bought him some caramel milk, because that's the only milk we found in a spoilt-turists market nearby. You see, thats a 2dl cup, the puppy was really young. And so tender. Hope he found someone to take care of him, because otherwise... If he found us, he must be lucky and got some more caremel milk I think!

Sunfish

This one is for Janez. He's actually seen one of these in real life (that's that thing which happens whenever you leave your computer). It's called a sunfish, I saw this one at Lisbon's aquarium. Apparently, they can be quite dumb, at least according to Wikipedia (though it could just be going with the flow).

Hawaii dog

Taken this summer in France, though just why this dog was wearing a Hawaii necklace is beyond me.

Wow dude, what a banana!

This one was taken at Gibraltar, almost at the top of the rock, which is full of macaque monkeys. They are quite aggressive and will steal your food or anything that shines or is interesting for them. This one saw a huge tasty banana, or a nice macaque lady maybe :)

Sea anemone

I was going to title this post simply 'anemone', but according to Wikipedia, that is actually the name of a genius of flowers. Sea anemones get their name from these flowers.

As for the photo, I love those deep blue and purple hues. Because of the low light (taken in the Lisbon aquarium), this was harder to take than it seems at first glance.

Mountaineering frog

I went on a nice hike today, which (combined with a lack of sleep) means I'm having a hard time writing this and keeping my eyes open. I snapped this shot on the way down, according to Barbara (who studies biology and knows these sorts of things), this is a Bombina variegata. Yay, knowledge!
